PROPER DISPOSAL OF
HYPODERMIC SYRINGES
NEEDLES AND LANCETS

(Protect Yourself and Protect Sanitation Workers)

Please Note:

No hypodermic syringes, needles or lancets (Sharps) of any kind are collected or accepted at Dutchess County Resource Recovery Agency.

All Sharps must be disposed of in an approved puncture, spill and leak proof container available at your local drug store.

Sharps - Including needles, syringes and lancets must be placed in a rigid, puncture resistant container with a secure closure.
As of July 1996, sharps from Dutchess County households can be taken to area hospitals for proper disposal.  Some area hospitals offer approved containers for sale.
Sharps in improper containers can cause injury to sanitation workers handling your household trash.
Used Sharps Cannot Be Recycled! Sharps containers should never be placed in recycling bins.
